Bryley donates computer equipment

Monitors

Some of the HP monitors Bryley donated to the TEC Schools.

To benefit the TEC Schools of Worcester

Bryley donated eight monitors and two PCs to the TEC Schools of Worcester. TEC Schools is a STEAM-based, Montessori school for preschool through grade eight (the STEAM acronym adds the arts to the more familiar Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics curriculum).

COO Anna Darlagiannis-Livingstone’s background includes connecting young people with technology via grants through the Oxford, Mass library. It doesn’t have to be the latest stuff to get kids to learn computing, Anna said. Access to tools is what matters. What Bryley’s donating isn’t cutting-edge, but they’ll work in the school’s setting — and that’s what matters. Also recycling tech keeps it out of landfills which is also very important.

Before donating the PCs, Bryley made sure the equipment was secure. This is standard practice for repurposing or retiring hardware. For organizations looking to do the same: wipe a drive before the machine leaves your hands or remove it entirely and let the recipient source a replacement drive. Monitors hold no data and so don’t carry a risk.
