Lost in the Clouds
/in Blog Post /by Garin LivingstoneThe functioning, intellectual property and reputation of your organization – and so its survival – depend on your ability to bounce back from an incident with the help of backed-up data. ARA Mass Trains Its Member Organizations
/in Blog Post /by Lawrence StraussThe American Rental Association of Massachusetts (ARA) set their member organizations on the path to cybersecurity awareness this month. ARA received six hour-and-fifteen-minute-long custom seminars that introduced the concepts of Security Awareness Training – tailored to their industry.
Bryley VP Roy Pacitto facilitated the online, interactive sessions that provided an introduction to Security Awareness Training (SAT) for ARA member organizations. The aim was to provide each participant with the basics that if the concepts presented were adhered-to the organizations would be less likely to experience a security breach. It was explained at the outset that one-time training sessions have only limited benefit. But couple initial training with ongoing Security Awareness Training and the results are historically impressive in minimizing cybersecurity risks … [six min. read]

Thinking In-House IT? Consider Bryley IT
/in Blog Post /by Lawrence StraussSmall- to medium-sized businesses don’t usually have an on-site tech overseeing the systems in use – these tasks tend to fall to the owners or employees with the most tech aptitude/interest. But if you’ve had it with frustrating downtime scenarios, you may be thinking of hiring an IT tech or contracting with a Managed Service Provider (MSP) like Bryley. [5 min. read]

What Does the SolarWinds Breach Mean?
/in Blog Post /by Lawrence StraussFor some perspective on the massive hack I spoke with David Byler, a Bryley trusted security advisor, “… what’s scary about this versus say the Equifax breach or the Home Depot breach is that in those the target was the customer data for that specific company. Also Equifax and Home Depot are not known as tech companies. SolarWinds is a tech company supplying tech to help tech companies manage their tech. So for them to get breached feels like this extra big thing …” [7 min. read]

The Last Line of Defense
/in Blog Post /by Garin LivingstoneCybercriminals have gotten through some of the world’s best defenses. They’re often after data, corrupting it, and locking it up for payment through ransomware. No security strategy is complete until it takes the last step of protecting data with quickly available, full, uncorrupted copies of everything your business depends on [6.5 min. read]

Dark Web Coin
/in Blog Post /by Garin LivingstoneThe barrier to ransomware entry has become so low. Ransomware is now distributed on the dark web like any other Software as a Service (SAAS, e.g. Spotify, Netflix, Dropbox). And its pricing starts at about $20 for a basic-level ransomware attack. Type “RAAS” or “ransomware as a service” in a dark web search engine. You’ll get pages of results. Most people think of hackers as geniuses. That’s far from true any more.
