Consultants
Consultants have at least five years of computer-network,
network-security, and/or telephone-systems experience, with
significant certifications from major manufacturers. They have
considerable expertise in high-end disciplines such as LAN/WAN
deployment, network-security implementation, computer/telephone
integration, and network operating systems.
Consultants design, plan, and manage large-scale, high-end
projects and rollouts.
Engineers
Engineers have at least two years of experience in computer
networks, network security, and/or advanced telephone systems.
Most hold a significant certification in their field of
expertise, such as a CCNAÔ,
CNEÔ,
MCSEÔ,
or similar certification. (CCNA is Cisco Certified Network
Associate, CNE is Novell’s Certified Netware EngineerÔ.
MCSE is Microsoft’s Certified Systems EngineerÔ.)
Engineers plan, deploy, and manage computer network, network
security, and telephone-system installations and conversions.
They also deal with all back-office network issues, from
connectivity through voice-data prioritization.
Technicians
Technicians are typically A+ CertifiedÔ
and/or have at least one year of experience supporting
desktop-level hardware, software, and telephone-system issues.
Technicians deploy
solutions and solve problems at end-user desktops.
