Marlborough Chamber of Commerce celebrates Stanley Cup

Ever since the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup in June, hockey fans throughout New England have been celebrating. The Cup, arguably the most recognizable trophy in all of sports made a stop on Nov. 16 at the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting Luncheon. The meeting was held at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel.

Also present (and just as celebrated by the attendees) was Bob Sweeney, a former Bruins star center who is now the Director of the Boston Bruins Foundation, the organization’s charitable arm. Those attending the luncheon clamored around the Cup to have their picture taken with it. Sweeney, after delivering the keynote address, graciously posed for pictures – and to everyone’s thrill, allowed attendees to hold his huge Stanley Cup diamond-encrusted ring as well.

The Cup was also accompanied by Mike Bolt, from the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Bolt is one of the Hall’s staff members who travels with the Cup to ensure no harm comes to it.
